What is Rope Access?

Working at heights presents unique challenges and risks across various industries, from construction and maintenance to inspection and repair tasks. Traditionally, scaffolding and other access methods have been employed to reach elevated areas, but these solutions often prove time-consuming, expensive, and cumbersome. In recent years, however, a more innovative and flexible approach has gained prominence – rope access.

Rope access, also known as industrial rope access or abseiling, is a technique used to access challenging or elevated work locations using ropes, harnesses, and specialised equipment. Developed from mountaineering and caving practices, rope access has evolved into a highly efficient and safe method for performing tasks at height.

The concept revolves around using ropes and anchoring systems to suspend workers from above, granting them unhindered access to vertical and difficult-to-reach locations. Our trained technicians, known as rope access technicians or simply rope access workers, utilise their expertise in rope rigging and safety procedures to carry out a wide range of rope access services, including maintenance, inspection, construction, painting, cleaning, and more.
